2023 Corporate Fast

We invite you to join the Pastors, Ministers and officers of HCFC on a 21-day journey of prayer and fasting as we deliberately cut ourselves off from our daily dietary practices and intentionally focus on the Lord Jesus Christ on our way to celebrating His resurrection from the cross on Resurrection Sunday morning.

This will be a 21-day fast (Sundays not included) where we will spend time in prayer and seeking the Lord for guidance and direction, individually and corporately; and also a time of reflection on the life, ministry, and sacrifice of Jesus Christ so that we may be prepared to authentically appreciate and celebrate the death of Jesus Christ and His glorious resurrection from the dead.

Our 21-Day Corporate Fast will begin on Thursday, March 16, 2023 and conclude on Resurrection Sunday morning, April 9, 2023. While many will participate in the Daniel (Partial) Fast, participants are not limited on the type of fast in which you engage. What is important is that you are motivated by a search for God’s heart and an intentional  purpose behind the fasting.

As with anything that you do for the Lord, we ask that you would seek Him before deciding to join us in our Corporate Fast. To read more information about what this Corporate or Individual Fast will look like and scripture to support your journey, please click HERE (or see below). Once you have finished and God releases you to join us, please click the blue button below to sign up for the fast. A member of our ministerial team will connect with you daily to encourage you along the way. Additionally, we invite you to join us every Friday during these weeks for prayer.

As you fast for corporate purposes, think about the following questions:
What impact are you making on the Kingdom of God?
Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
•Every member of the body of Christ should be equipped for ministry, serving God with a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
•Too many Christians, however, are not functioning the way God has designed them, called them, and gifted them to function.
•Fast and pray that God reveals to you His calling for your life and the way He wants you to use it for His glory.

What is it that you want God to do in the church and the community of which you are a part?
The leaders in the Antioch church (Acts 13:1-3) knew God had something more for them, but they didn’t know exactly what it was.
But they were in the right place to receive that guidance, because they were coming before the Lord in fasting and prayer.

Fast and pray that God reveals what His desire is for your church and the way in which He wants you to support that desire.

What need do you see the church facing for which we need God's help and intervention?
God is up to something great in the lives of His people and in His church!
In Daniel, Chapter 10, after Daniel fasted, the angel of the Lord came and gave Daniel clarity and understanding regarding his vision.
God not only has a vision for your life, but also a vision for the life of His church.
Fast and pray that God provides clarity on the vision that He has revealed to you for the church, and even more that He helps and
intervenes in directing the church body to carry out that vision
.

Are you fasting for individual purposes? Here are some individual purposes for which you can fast.

Fasting as an act of Worship:
In Luke Chapter 2:36-38, the prophetess Anna fasted as a part of her worship and as a result of her worship, the promised
Redemption of Jerusalem, Jesus Christ, was presented in the temple.
If you simply love the Lord and are grateful for who He is and His promises in Heaven and in history, fasting may give you and
even greater appreciation of His presence and His glory.

Fasting in preparation for an assignment:
In Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus fasted for 40 days in preparation for His earthly ministry.
If God has spoken to you about a new assignment, whether in ministry or professionally, fasting is a way to prepare for that
assignment
.

Fasting for protection:
In Judges Chapter 20, as the children of Israel were about to go into battle, verses 26-28 says that before they went into battle,
all the Israelites, the whole army, went up to Bethel, and there they sat weeping before the Lord. They fasted that day until evening
and presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings to the Lord. They were protected from their enemy and were victorious in battle.
If you are facing a life’s battle for which you need God’s protection, fast, even in the midst of it, that God might protect you in it and see you through it.

Fasting for deliverance:
In Matthew 17:14-21, a father initially brought the son to the disciples to cast a demon out of his son. The disciples could not do it.
When Jesus came, the son was brought to Jesus and commanded the demon to come out of him. Immediately the demon came out
and the son was healed. When the disciples asked why they couldn’t cast out the demon, Jesus said, this type of power can only come
through prayer and fasting.
If you need deliverance from a stronghold, an addiction, a heavy weight, fasting may give you the release you need.

Fasting as an act of repentance:
In Jonah Chapter 3, when Jonah finally went to Ninaveh, he proclaimed the message to the Ninavites that because of their disobedience,
the Lord would destroy Nineveh in 40 days. Verse 5 says that the Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and when God
saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, He relented and did not bring on them the destruction that He had
threatened.
If you know that your lack of obedience has caused distance between the Lord and you, you may consider fasting to see, feel,
and experience His presence once more.

Fasting to seek divine wisdom:
In Acts Chapter 13, the prophets and teachers in the church at Antioch were worshiping the Lord and fasting. And, through their worship
and fasting, the Holy Spirit led them to set apart, for the work of ministry, Barnabas and Saul. And, after they fasted and prayed,
the Word says hands were laid on these two and they were commissioned to do the work the Lord had called them to do.

If you want to make certain that your spiritual journey and direction aligns with God’s will, fasting may be necessary for you.

Fasting as an act of intercession for others:
In Nehemiah 1:1-7, Nehemiah heard of the destruction occurring to the place and people of his hometown, Jerusalem. He tore his clothes
and fasted and prayed on their 800-miles-away behalf, asking the Lord to help them. The text says of Nehemiah, “As soon as I heard these
words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven . . . let your ear be attentive
and your eyes open, to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for the people of Israel your servants . . . ”

You may know of others who need your intervention for God’s protection, guidance, and deliverance. Your fasting may be the intercession they need.
